Stanley Mouse Pays A Visit To Shakedown Gallery At The Haight-Ashbury Street Fair
June 12, 2014
San Francisco psychedelic poster pioneer Stanley Mouse paid a visit to the Shakedown Gallery at the 37th Annual Haight Ashbury Street Fair Sunday June 8th. Stanley Mouse is considered one of the Big Five artists from the Fillmore / Avalon San Francisco Renaissance and is perhaps best known for the "Skull and Roses" image he made famous with collaborator Alton Kelley.Â
The Shakedown Gallery booth also featured a wide variety of signed prints from Grateful Dead and visionary / psychedelic artists Mike DuBois, Richard Biffle, Tina Carpenter and Randal Roberts alongside blotter art and artifacts signed by Ken Kesey, Timothy Leary, Albert Hofmann, Sasha Shulgin and photographs by Susana Millman.Â
The Haight-Ashbury Street Fair is an outdoor event that brings thousands from surrounding neighborhoods and hosts live music on multiple stages.Â
The weather this year was spectacular and the turn-out was excellent. We were very proud to return to this event and anticipate making it a regular event on our calendar.Â
Special thanks to Michael DuBois and Kelly Sinclair at Happy Life Productions for shipping out a box of their beautiful t-shirts to complement our art display!Â
